Wellington Trip 2014
I went away for Queens Birthday Weekend to Wellington. I have been there 2 times before and I have to say I love the place and could definitely see myself living there in the future. I have uploaded a few of the pictures I took when I was away (I wish I had taken more). I was really lucky it was perfect weather all weekend.
Cable Car + Botanical Garden
I would highly recommend doing the cable car up to the top of Mount Victoria. Instead of taking it back down walk through the beautiful botanic gardens. There is a guide path that takes you right back to the city (near the beehive).
The first day we shopped mainly on cuba street. My favourites were:
– Matchbox Studios
– Iko Iko
– Hunters and Collectors
Also Had a really yum cake at Zaida’s Cafe at 29 College Street
Ferry to Days Bay
I enjoyed my trip on the ferry to days bay but I would definitely only do it on a nice day. It was good to have a break from the shopping and be outdoors and by the beach. Don’t expect a huge a mount of shops when you go over there is only about 3, but there is a few options for eating. The cottages and beach homes are really cute and it is cool to go on the top of the ferry and see different parts of wellington. Next time I come up I would love to do the island reserve walk instead.
Eastbourne (you can see the city in the distance)
Went to Te Papa and then did more shopping this time more around Victoria street and Lambton Quay. Really like the shop Made it.
My Shopping Haul for the trip.
City Gallery Wellington is definitely worth a visit, they have great exhibits and its not as large as Te Papa which is good for sore feet at the end of a long trip.
